What's on your bookshelf?
So...I have lost Fresh Air Fiend. Not on purpose, but I can't seem to find it anywhere! Sunday was a sunny day and I needed something to read while lounging hung over in the garden all day, so I picked up Look Homeward Angel, by Thomas Wolfe. While I like his writing style and think I would like the book, I don't think it's a good pick for the next one. I think it is one you could really like or really hate. Currently, on my bookshelf I have many books that I haven't read yet. A couple some of you have read- Memoirs of a Geisha (one of Jul's favorites) and Middlesex. Otherwise, I have Invitation to a Beheading by Nabokov (again, perhaps not the lightest choice for our next book), Escape from Freedom by Eric Fromm, The Shadow of the Sun by Ryszard Kapuscinski, A Man in Full by Tom Wolfe, The Good Doctor by Damon Galgut and The Miracle Life of Edgar Mint by Brady Udall. As I get ready to head to bed, I think I will put Thomas Wolfe aside and try Edgar Mint. The back cover has remarks from various publications, comparing the author to Irving and describing it as "if this was a film it would be made by the Coen brothers." Any takers? I also have a book on economics in developing countries and a biography of Nelson Mandela but I didn't think you would go for those. Check out the link and see what you think...I can't remember if it's Powells or Booksense that has the author's picture, but aside from the fact it looks like a good book, he's kind of hot!

I've already started it and like it so far. It's a nice easy read and I am enjoying having some characters to empathise with again! I think Juls is on her Fitpatrick books or something?
Em, I'm only about 200 pages in. I'm really enjoying it though, it's well written but light enough (perhaps not in content but in style) that I look forward to reading it every chance I get (usually as I am going to bed). I'll plan to chat about it with you in just a few weeks!!!
